Does anyone else just freaking love playing piccolo.

Last summer at band camp, I was marching with one of the school's plastic piccolos. I live in the South, so it gets VERY hot in the summer. It was so hot that my pic actually started to melt. It's hardened again, but my thumbprint will forever be etched in the bottom.
I have so many piccolo-related stories, so I’m going to share a couple.
One time at band camp, our director, during full ensemble rehearsal, told the flutes to get some Seaman. She was referring to the Roy Seaman brand piccolos, but we all heard “semen”. It took the BD a while to realize what she had said. We couldn’t stop laughing.
When I was in high school, I was in a Tri-M music honor society chapter. We had monthly performances at a local Alzheimer’s/nursing home, where we would take turns playing songs that followed a theme. On this particular day, I decided to take out the piccolo. My friends kept saying, “No! Don’t! You’ll deafen the poor old people!”
I went out there anyway and played “When You Wish Upon a Star”. The old people started smiling and singing along. It was very sweet, and I proved my friends wrong. It feels great breaking the stereotype that piccolos can never sound beautiful.
Please feel free to submit your own piccolo-related stories. :D
